Blogging

I have been thinking and stressing for months about how I need to update my blog. I have come to the conclusion that maybe blogging isn't what I need to be doing. Alot of things that are on my mind or challenges or victories coming my way don't need to be posted on the world wide web. Is blogging a way to keep friends updated or is it an easy way out? Am I really a good friend if I read someone's blog or do I really need to be calling, writing or visiting them instead? I am still deciding.

My blog is not about recipes or crafts or a trade of any kind. I am no longer traveling all over the world and having all these crazy experiences. It is only about my everyday life.

I seem to teach my students everyday about the importance of relationships. I watch them replace human interaction with technology more and more. This makes me think alot about the relationships in my life. I am grateful for those who support me, listen to me and just call to say hello. I honestly don't know what I would do without my husband, my sister and my best friend.

This weekend, I had a girls night with a friend of mine. We debated on a movie and then decided we just wanted to sit and actually talk. We walked around the park and then had a three hour dinner. I can't tell you how therapeutic that was and how much I needed that. I don't have time to do that everyday but I will make more of an attempt to spend quality time with people.

So for now, I will take the time I used to spend on facebook or blogging or surfing the internet to pick up the phone and actaully talk to my friends. I'm going to write in my journal again and allow myself to truly write about what excites me or upsets me or just makes me think.

Kudos to all you bloggers who can balance all you need to do. I certainly am not against technology and the wonderful ways it allows people to stay in touch. I love chatting online with my Italy friends and such. I just need to take a step back for a bit.

Sherlock

Well I have fallen in love again. This time, he has ashy blonde hair with black lowlights. He stands about 6 inches high and weighs 4 pounds. Sherlock is our new Pekingese puppy and has totally won our hearts with the smushed in face! He was a happy birthday present to me.

He is actually a really good puppy. He goes to the door or whimpers a little to tell us he needs to go outside and had only a few accidents. Sherlock loves his new bed and sleeps through the night. I think he has found a playmate in Tanner. They love to chase eachother and share toys. When Sherlock gets too hyper for Tanner, he just jumps somewhere where Sherlock can't reach...so pretty much anywhere! Claudia doesn't seem to affected by him one way or the other.
I am a total dork and have been reading a Pekingese book. The breed is new to me and I want to be well informed. He probably won't be more than 8 lbs as an adult. He can't ever go up and down stairs because it causes knee problems later in life. I never thought I would have a toy breed but I am so happy he is with us. We are going to start more extensive training (sitting, no barking, etc) this weekend.

Greg had to go out of town this week but luckily I had my two kitties and adorable puppy to entertain me. I am sure I will have a billion pictures...as I always do of everything. Here are a few for now. Did I mention how cute he is?!

Christmas Rock

We had an amazing Christmas! Each year I realize how lucky I am to have the family that I do. We have so much fun together. This year, Dane got Guitar Hero World Tour from Mom and Dad so we rocked out most of the day. Later, Gaius and Devon came over to eat and play with us. The boys played a three hour game of Tiger Woods golf. We had lots of great food and even better company. Pictured above are various photos of the holiday lights. Houston also got their first snow in four years! Lindsay came back to Houston with us after the holidays. I hope you all had an amazing holiday season.
